REACTIVATING YOUR SWIMMING POOL
When the first warm days come around, you should reactivate your pool as soon the water temperature exceeds 12°C.
It's easy to do if the pool has been properly winterised.
Please note - we recommend changing your filter sand every five years or replacing the cartridge every year. This should ideally be done when reactivating your pool.
After passive winterising
The pool:
- Remove the winter cover and fold it temporarily so you can clean it later.
- Remove the floats.
- Refit the main drain, vacuum point and skimmer valves.
- Refit the baskets in the skimmers.
- Once the pool is uncovered, clean the surround starting with the border and working outwards.
- Remove the largest contaminants from the bottom or surface using a leaf net.
- If necessary, add water to bring the level back to two thirds of the way up the skimmer.
- Clean the equipment unit and border connectors using appropriate products (stainless steel maintenance kit).
Equipment box:
- Refit all the bleed valves and connections removed during winterisation (filtration pump, endless pool unit, heat pump, etc.).
- Refit the cover on the cartridge filter and the bleed valve for sand filters.
- Refit the pH probe (if your pool has one).
- Fill the pump pre-filter and refit its cover. Ensure the seal is properly positioned.
- Reconnect the power inlets (circuit breakers, etc.).
- Open the main drain valve.
- Activate the filtration pump.
- Never operate a pump without any water. This damages it irreversibly and invalidates the warranty.
- Gradually open the other suction valves to reactivate the entire system (vacuum point and skimmer).
- Reactivate the pumps for other equipment (endless pool unit, water curtain) by filling them with water (don't forget to open the inlet and outlet valves).
Water treatment:
- Clean the entire pool, pouring waste water down the drain (this will avoid clogging up your filter).
- Don't use the pool cleaner for your initial clean.
- Check the pool water pH and adjust if required (the ideal value is generally 7.2).
- Please note - the pH should be readjusted before adding any other chemicals.
- Once the pH has been adjusted, shock your pool with your chosen treatment (active oxygen, chlorine, bromine, etc.).
- Operate the filtration pump continuously until the water is crystal clear (approximately 15 days).
- Don't forget to clean the filter at reasonably regular intervals (on reactivation, the water is loaded with small particles of contaminants).
- Check and, if necessary, adjust the pH in subsequent weeks.
- Don't activate your heating unless the water is crystal-clear.
After active winterising
The pool:
- Remove the winter cover and fold it temporarily so you can clean it later.
- Remove the floats.
- Clean the walls and sweep the pool with a brush even if it doesn't look dirty.
- Clean the equipment unit and border connectors using appropriate products (stainless steel maintenance kit)
Equipment box:
- Screw any bleed valves and unions that were unscrewed during winterisation back onto the various items of equipment (heat pump, endless pool unit, water curtain, shower).
- Reactivate winterised pumps by filling them with water (don't forget to open the inlet and outlet valves).
- Never operate a pump without any water. This damages it irreversibly and invalidates the warranty.
- Adjust the heat pump bypass.
- Increase daily filtration time based on temperature.
Water treatment:
- Check the water pH and adjust if required (the ideal value is generally 7.2).
- Please note - the pH should be readjusted before adding any other chemicals.
- Continue chemical treatment by adding disinfectant every week.
- Don't activate your heating unless the water is crystal-clear.
